Convert a PDF bank statement to Excel

Turn a text-based bank or credit card statement PDF into an Excel workbook with date, description, debit, credit, and balance columns.

A PDF bank statement is easy to read and awkward to reconcile. This converter reads a text-based statement and writes an Excel workbook you can filter, total, and hand to a spreadsheet or a bookkeeper.

What the workbook contains

Each transaction becomes a row. The columns are Date, Description, Debit, Credit, Balance, Category, Account, and Period. Debits and credits stay in separate columns, so a spreadsheet can sum money out without guessing from a single amount column. When the PDF includes a statement range, that range is carried on the row.

Excel is the file to open when a person will scan the result and correct a cell. The same extraction can also download CSV, JSON, or Markdown. Those are covered on the CSV page and in the format guide.

Which PDFs can be converted

Upload a text-based bank statement or credit card statement, up to 20 MB. The text has to be selectable in the PDF. Scanned pages and photos are not supported, because the converter reads the text layer rather than recognizing an image.

Sign in with Google, choose the PDF on the homepage converter, select Excel, and start. You can leave the page while the job runs. When it finishes, download the workbook or open the job and correct a row before you export again.

What to check before you rely on it

Compare dates, descriptions, and the running balance with the PDF. A wrapped description can land on two rows, and a statement that prints amounts without a clear debit or credit label needs a human look. Category is filled only on plans that include categorization. Keep the original PDF. Use the workbook as a draft for accounting, tax, or lending work.

Uploaded files are deleted 24 hours after upload. Every account starts with 5 free pages. Longer statements need a paid page pack or subscription, listed on the pricing page.

When another download fits better

Choose CSV when the next step is an import into another system. Choose OFX or a QuickBooks QBO file when accounting software should ingest the transactions. Those accounting files are exported from the finished job, and they are included on Basic, Professional, and Business plans. The conversion guide walks through the upload from start to finish.
