Convert a bank statement PDF to OFX

Create an OFX file from a text-based bank statement PDF so accounting software can import the transactions. Paid plans also export QBO and Xero CSV.

OFX is a statement file that bookkeeping software already knows how to import. Use it when the goal is not a spreadsheet, but a list of dated transactions with amounts that QuickBooks, Xero, or another ledger can read.

What you download

The converter builds an OFX bank-statement document from the extracted rows. Each transaction keeps its date, description, and amount. The same job can also write a QuickBooks .qbo file or a Xero CSV. QBO is the QuickBooks-oriented sibling of OFX, described on the QuickBooks page. Xero CSV is the flat file for a Xero bank import. All three are produced from the reviewed transactions, not from a live connection to your bank or your accounting login.

The homepage format buttons are Excel, CSV, JSON, and Markdown. OFX, QBO, and Xero CSV are downloaded from the finished job. Basic, Professional, and Business plans include those accounting formats. The free plan does not. If a plan does not include them, the export is declined and Excel or CSV remains available.

What the PDF has to be

Start from a text-based bank statement PDF, up to 20 MB. Credit card statements are supported as well. Scanned images are not. Sign in, run the conversion from the homepage, then open the job and choose OFX after you have looked at the rows.

Review before you import

Accounting software will trust the file you give it. Check that debits and credits point the right way, that the running balance still makes sense, and that a description split across lines in the PDF did not become two transactions. Fix the row in the job, then export OFX again. Uploaded files are deleted 24 hours after upload. Page allowances are on the pricing page.

A spreadsheet review is often the faster first pass. Export Excel or CSV, correct the obvious rows, then create the OFX file. The format guide puts the three side by side, and the how-to covers the upload.

Upload a statement PDF
